  • User-provided information: Data such as your name, age, and email address when you register in the app, as well as journal entries, reflections, and other content you create within Purpose.
  • Automatically collected information: Interactions with the app (pages visited, links clicked, etc.).

We use the collected information to:

  • Provide and improve our services, ensuring a personalized and efficient experience.
  • Generate AI-powered insights by processing your journal entries and reflections through third-party AI providers (see Section 3 for details).
  • Maintain the stability and security of the app, resolving technical issues and optimizing compatibility.
  • Analyze trends and usage patterns, using anonymized data to improve user experience.
  • Protect Purpose and its users, verifying accounts, preventing fraud, and ensuring compliance with our terms of use.
  • Personalize content and features based on your interactions and preferences.

3. Third-Party Services and AI Data Processing

To enhance the Purpose experience, we use the following third-party services:

  • Supabase: Authentication, database, and file storage platform we use to securely manage user access, identity, and data.
  • RevenueCat: Subscription management service we use to process and manage in-app purchases and subscriptions.
  • Google Gemini (Google LLC): AI language model used to analyze your journal entries and reflections and generate personalized insights, pattern recognition, and guided reflections.
  • OpenAI (OpenAI, L.L.C.): AI language and image model used to generate personalized insights and visual content based on your reflections.

What data is sent to AI providers

When you use AI-powered features in Purpose, the following data may be sent to Google Gemini and/or OpenAI for processing:

  • Your journal entries and written reflections.
  • Contextual information such as mood selections and assessment responses, used to personalize AI-generated insights.

How AI providers handle your data

  • All data is encrypted in transit using industry-standard TLS encryption.
  • Your data is not used to train AI models by Google or OpenAI.
  • Data is processed in real time to generate responses and is not retained by AI providers beyond the duration of the request processing.

Your consent

Before any data is sent to third-party AI providers, Purpose will ask for your explicit consent. You can grant or decline consent when prompted. If you decline, AI-powered features will not be available, but you can still use the rest of the app. You may revoke your consent at any time from Settings > Data & Privacy, and you will be prompted again the next time an AI feature is used.

We take the security of your data seriously. Sensitive data stored on your device is encrypted. Data transmitted between your device and our servers is protected using TLS encryption. We regularly review our security practices to ensure your information remains protected.

  • Your data is retained for as long as your account is active.
  • You can request the deletion of your account and all associated data at any time from the app settings.
  • Upon account deletion, all your data is permanently removed from our servers.
